Reopening Guidelines

Our priority is the health and safety of our visitors, the local community and our entire Museum family. The Museum is asking all visitors to adhere to the following guidelines and we thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Face coverings are required in the Museum

Non-medical masks, bandanas, scarves or cloth can be used to cover your nose and mouth. If you do not have a face covering, masks are available for sale at the Admissions Desk.

Practice social distancing

Stay a minimum of six feet from those outside your party.

Follow the one-way journey through the galleries

Follow the arrows on the floor through each gallery in order to see everything and avoid cross-traffic.

Use hand-sanitizing stations located throughout the museum

Please note:

  • For your shopping convenience and safety, gloves will be provided in the Museum Store. Sanitized shopping baskets will be provided to gather items you have handled, or you can place unwanted items in the dedicated return areas. Items not purchased will be sanitized and returned to the Store shelves by our staff.
  • Seating in the 3D Theater is at reduced capacity to allow for adequate social distancing. Please check with the Admissions Desk regarding available show seating.
  • The Hurricane Simulator, Rain Shadow Augmented Reality Exhibit, and the Lightship Columbia are temporarily closed.
